Sarvaloka pootuwa (n) universal joint. S'loka=universal, pootuwa=joint or join. Beware of vulgar usage of pootuwa (s*xual innuendo)

Ret Let (n) corrupt. Red Lead. Correct: Rathu eeyam.

Dalco eka (n) ignition coil. From A.C. Delco and Co, manufacturers of auto electrics.

Waalding (n) welding. Confusingly used also for cutting e.g bank safes, using oxyacetylene torch.

Dumriya (n) orig. steam train. Modern usage: Badly tuned cheap diesel railway engines producing more smoke than steam engines. Thus retention of Dumriya for Railway.

Panapowanawa (v) annealing (normal usage), also resuscitation or more correctly sobering up colleague after university alcoholic binge as in "Ado! moota panapowamu!"

Pawarr sat eka (n) corrupt. Power Set, local parlance for push-pull type trains. Woman of questionable morals i.e "fast" woman (vulgar, mostly used along coastal railway belt)

Sambhashika (n) Receptionist. Often: The Minister's bit on the side. Bit of an alright (slang) as in "Machang ara baduwa honda Sambashikawak néda?"
