When Mr. Bill Gates of Microsoft came to Sri Lanka, he signed an agreement with the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications (Williyong Appuhamy) to release the Sinhalese Version of JANELA 2002 (WINDOWS 2002) by end of year 2003. Subsequently, they released a demo on Sinhalese Version of WINDOWS 2002 (SIN2002) to the press.
